Rocketry Movie Review: R Madhavan delivers his career-best act; Suriya and Shah Rukh Khan shine in a cameo
Director: R Madhavan
Cast: R Madhavan, Simran, Rajit Kapoor & Shah Rukh Khan (extended cameo)
Platform: Theatrical
Rating: 3.5/5
In his first Direction, actor Madhavan has taken the story such a risk and he is living as Nambi Narayanan by relying on it. Madhavan has proved that he can impress the fans by giving a pure biopic, without any commercial compromises.
The cruelties of turning Nambi Narayanan into a traitor who should have been celebrated by the nation as a better scientist and who invents the “Vikas” engine for the space development of our Indian nation.
Nambi Narayanan (Madhavan) accepts the request of his guru Vikram Sarabhai to be hired by NASA for a big salary and works at ISRO. His work is seen as immense at a time when India is keen to achieve astounding growth in space research. During the rocket launch using solid fuel, the scientist, proved that the rocket can be driven to a greater distance with liquid fuel and at one point invents the “Vikas” engine for India. As the country India celebrates him, the story of the Rocketry film is how he overcomes a self-inflicted treason arrest.
Madhavan has done the job very well both as a hero and as a director. In a situation where he wanted to make a rocket engine at a low cost, he took his team of scientists to France and learned the technology of the rocket engine there without the knowledge of the natives.
As Madhavan turns to the cryogenic engine, the United States fears that India will become a developed country by launching a missile if only that power is available to India. However, Nambi Narayanan talks to Russian scientists and buys the material worth crores for free. But it is divided into many parts in an environment where it cannot be brought directly to India. He is having trouble with parts of it coming from the Pakistan Karachi route. Mariam registered a treason case against Nambi Narayanan. He was arrested by the police who gave him third-degree treatment.
Nambi Narayanan tells the story of his entire life through Suriya’s interview. The place where Surya speaks after listening to Nambi Narayan’s story and kneels down before him and says “I apologize to you on behalf of the nation of India”. Real reliance on climax brought Nambi Narayanan life beautifully. Madhavan’s movement, acting, and verses are a big plus for the film. when the Supreme Court acquitted Narayanan after a 30-year legal battle. Madhavan raised the question “If I am not the culprit, then who is the culprit? There he lived as real Nambi Narayanan. It is not known how well the rocket science used in the film is connected to the general audience. Big credit to Madhavan for every frame of his work and for telling the story of Nambi Narayanan, a great scientist, who lost his life without any emotion.
