Queen is a web series based on the novel of the same name by Anitha Sivakumaran. The 11 episode series is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prasad Murugesan. Ramya Krishnan plays the role of Shakti Seshadri, a school topper, and she becomes the wanted heroine. She is pushed into politics later in her life.

Ramya Krishnan made her digital debut streaming on MX Player with Gautham Menon and Prasad Murugesan’s Queen. Nearly three years later, the actress resumed filming for the second season of the show. On May 30, Ramya Krishnan went on Instagram to drop a series of pictures from the sets of her upcoming Queen series. She resumed filming for Queen Season 2. “Yes, yes, yes” she headlined the post with folded hands and heart emojis.

The movie Queen is based on the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Selvi J.Jayalalithaa. But Gautham Vasudev Menon said in an interview that the series was not based on her life. In 2019, when the series was released, the Queen team faced legal issues. Gautham Vasudev Menon said, “We have taken some inspiration side from the book, and came up with the story. If you find the resemblance, then it’s not my fault, I guess.” He added.
